For the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania (CFEP), growth has never happened in isolation. It has come through mission-driven collaboration—especially through its involvement in the Consortium of Catholic Foundations (CCF), the nation’s leading peer network for chief executives of Catholic community foundations.
The Consortium of Catholic Foundations
Comprised of 63 executives across 33 states and stewarding more than $5 billion in collective assets, the Consortium was born from a simple idea: Catholic foundations become stronger when they learn together. During the past decade, its members have shared strategies, tools, challenges, and innovations — sparking remarkable gains in organizational capacity and mission impact nationwide.
The Catholic Foundation became a charter member six years ago, thanks in part to Board Chairman Paul Huck, whose commitment to professional development encouraged President Pete Waldron to explore how other Catholic foundations were achieving excellence. Early guidance from Brad Stephan of the Concord Advisory Group opened the door to new relationships — and eventually, to the Consortium.
For Waldron, the network has been transformational.
“I have learned so much from the talent, wisdom, and experiences offered by my peers in this Consortium,” Waldron said. “They have become a trusted sounding board for ideas and an unmatched resource for discovering best practices in operations, investing, development, planned giving, and marketing.”
What began as informal conversations has grown into a nationwide engine for shared learning, technology-driven insights, and leadership support. For CFEP, it has played a significant role in shaping the dynamic, fast-growing foundation our region knows today.
“The interaction with my fellow foundation executives has been invaluable,” Waldron added. “Our work — and our mission —are stronger because we are not doing this alone.”
Through the Consortium, the Catholic Foundation stands connected to a national community dedicated to futureproofing Catholic ministries — together.
